After cleaning out the garage and going to the dump (we can't get waste management to manage our waste) I sat for a few hours experimenting with colored pencil and pastel pencils on a few surfaces. Parchment is not good for theses two media. Neither is w/c paper - best seems to be bristol board smooth. So here's the experiments. Two things - the lady is slightly out of proportion but not by much, and the cowboy's waist should be lower. Cowboy painting - 12x16", lady 8x10" and girl's portrait - 8x10". LLL. These are only sketches for practice.

Both books published on Amazon.com
One of the things I miss about our "Art dabblers' Monday meetings" is the great interactions and sharing of ideas and techniques. The latest is the black watercolor paper by Stonehenge - cold press. I used 8x10" black paper on this plant (photo by permission of Loredana Kardia - a cool lovely young lady - whose paintings I admire). This is just a sketch. I will also be trying different colors (not regular watercolors - they are too transparent) from the ones I bought for this purpose. Oh and my 2nd book was just published by amazon.com
